“EKSKURSAS” – Metamorphoses

“Ekskursas” was established by a team of volunteer team of architects, historians, art critics and enthusiasts in the autumn of 2015. Born as a series of architectural tours to mark the award of the European Heritage Label to Kaunas interwar modernist architecture, Today “Excursion” is embarking on the most diverse and unexpected city adventures. Our goal is to draw attention of the society to unique layers of urban heritage ant to reveal their character in a comprehensive manner, opening the doors to unseen or rarely seen spaces of the town or buildings.

The topic of Kaunas architecture festival KAFe 2019 “Landmark architecture – creating or destroying city’s identity?” also reflects the philosophy of the team of “Ekskursa”, according to which any city building, that is open to tell its history or become a model for others, can become architectural icons or landmarks of the city. And it does not matter if it’s the Central Post building, Žalgiris Arena or a humble wooden house on Dzūkų Street in Žaliakalnis.
